Questions

Things people ask before they start

If your question isn’t here, email info@pomsoul.com. A real person reads it.

Is Qigong suitable for me?

Almost certainly. Qigong is slow, gentle movement paired with breath. There is no floor work, no impact and nothing to push through. Students at Pomsoul include people recovering from illness or injury, people with chronic pain, and people who simply carry too much stress. Every movement can be adapted, softened or done seated, and Stephanie says so out loud in every class. If you have a specific health concern, check with your health provider first.

Am I too old for this? Or too young?

Students are in their thirties through their seventies, and the practice suits both ends of that range and beyond. Because everything can be done seated, age and mobility are rarely a barrier.

Do I need to be fit or flexible?

No. There is no fitness level to reach first and no flexibility requirement at all. You will not get sweaty and you will not be asked to keep up with anyone. The practice meets you where you are.

What equipment do I need?

None. No mat, no weights, no special clothing. A little standing room (or a chair) and a device that runs Zoom is everything required.

Do I have to have my camera on?

No. Camera off is completely fine, and plenty of people practise that way. Show up however makes it possible to show up.

I have never used Zoom. Will I manage?

Yes. Your join link arrives by email, and one click or tap opens the class. There is nothing to set up in advance. If you are unsure, email info@pomsoul.com and we will walk you through it before your first class.

What happens if I miss a class?

Nothing bad. Life happens, and there is no penalty and no catching up required. If your membership includes recordings, the class will be waiting on your calendar to practise whenever suits you.

Are classes recorded?

Yes. Every live class is recorded and placed on your member calendar on the day it was taught, so a class you miss is never a class you lose. The Season Membership includes every recording, and the Fall Recordings open them on their own, for people who would rather practise on their own time; both are on the offerings page. A separate library of shorter, focused practices is in progress and not yet available.

What is your refund policy?

Plainly: a full refund any time before the season starts, and a prorated refund within the first two weeks. Recordings are non-refundable once accessed. The full details are on the refunds page.

Will there be in-person classes?

The regular practice runs online, which is what lets people join from anywhere and with cameras off. In-person gatherings happen from time to time, and any in-person class will appear on the schedule clearly marked.

What does it cost?

Current prices for the season membership, monthly membership and Fall recordings are always on the offerings page, in Canadian dollars with tax included.

How do I start?

With three free classes. No card and nothing to cancel: just claim your three classes and your first Zoom link arrives by email.
